You can already set PMs to 'friend only', but not everyone does.
The choice makes sense when you consider creepy people love traumatizing kids... it's sort of a massive problem on the internet.

Grandfathering means if your account was made before the rule was instated, then you get a pass. Pretty sure you'll get to keep it, but possibly restricted... Hoping you can understand - but there are some people on here (and the internet in general) who are predatory towards minors. It's a sorry state the world is in, but these changes make sense imo.
@Mammonthegammon I think there is one already but there will always be people who don't turn it off, and new people who just don't know you can
